Shia LaBoeuf becomes the latest celebrity who was convinced that he was “OK to drive” after downing a few. The Transformers actor was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving charges after being involved in an accident early yesterday morning.

Shia’s truck flipped over after being involved in a two-car collision that took place at the corner of Fountain and La Brea in Hollywood at around 2:24 a.m. LaBoeuf suffered injuries to his head and hand, and has undergone surgery to correct the hand injury. He is expected to return to the Transformers set in about a month.

Remember when Sharon Stone uttered the famous line, "What are you going to do? Arrest me for smoking?" in the movie "Basic Instinct?" It seemed silly at the time, but currently Shia LaBeouf has a warrant issued against him for smoking.

Shia was ticketed on February 18th for smoking where he shouldn’t have been. Though the charge was a misdemeanor, he was to appear in court this morning at 8:30 A.M. He didn’t and neither did his lawyer so now a $1,000 bench warrant has been issued.

Excuse me?

Is this what our tax dollars are going to? Issuing bench warrants for misdemeanor smoking charges?

I’m not going to gloss over the fact that Shia or his attorney should have showed up. And I know smoking kills. I’m the last person who wants to breathe anyone else’s second hand smoke. But really. OJ Simpson and Phil Spector get away with murder. Nicole Richie is released from jail in minutes and a warrant is issued for Shia LaBeouf because he smoked on a public sidewalk in front of a gift shop.
