Miley Cyrus Finally Moves On From ‘Hannah Montana’

Miley Cyrus announced that season four would be the last for her hugely popular Disney series “Hannah Montana.” Fellow Disney star Selena Gomez said Miley is just ready to move on to bigger and more mature projects.

“I think that she’s growing with the show, and I think it’s such a great platform for her,” Gomez told MTV News, adding that she has yet to talk to Miley about her post “Hannah Montana” plans. “And she’s lived up to it as wonderfully as she could, and I think she continues to carry it, but she’s ready for other things.”

Although there’s still some time until the show does finally end, Miley has expressed her desire to tackle more mature projects, like her role in the forthcoming Nicholas Sparks movie “The Last Song”.”My job is to be a role model, and that’s what I want to do, but my job isn’t to be a parent. My job isn’t to tell your kids how to act or how not to act, because I’m still figuring that out for myself. So to take that away from me is a bit selfish. Your kids are going to make mistakes whether I do or not. That’s just life.” While Miley is bidding a fond farewell to her alter ego, Gomez is still having a good time playing Alex Russo on her Disney show.” ‘Wizards of Waverly Place’

Former American Idol” judge Paula Abdul has a couple of potential entertainment gigs in her post-AI career, apparently. The Twitter Quitter is being courted by Disney-owned ABC with all the feverish energy of a Hannah Montana concert, according to TMZ. Options include a judge or dancing role on “Dancing With the Stars,” possible temporary run on”Ugly Betty” or, we’d dig this, her own show. We’re just giddy thinking about all the ways this obsession over La Abdul can go wrong.

But, at least one possiblity looks like reality. Michael Ausiello with Entertainment Weekly reports Abdul is in discussions with the Alphabet network to guest star on “Ugly Betty.” She’ll play a temp at Mode who befriends the self-obsessed receptionist Amanda. Abdul+acting= Must See TV, no?

Miley Cyrus will be returning to her role on Hannah Montana. The 16-year-old has announced that she is on board for a fourth season. Expect some changes, though: “Miley and the producers have proposed a change of setting for Season Four that will provide the catalyst for wonderful new characters and further expand the storytelling opportunities.”

How much do you want to bet that Miley and the rest of the family will be moving closer to their country roots for the new season? Shooting starts in early 2010.
