
It might have been disastrous wen The Academy nixed the suggested controversial comedian Sacha Baron Cohen as host for the harmless comedy duo team of Steven Martin and Alec Baldwin. But what can be a better way to make up for all the mistakes with their young Hollywood power lineup of presenters this year.
Reportedly, “Twilight” stars Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner are Oscar-bound as presenters. Now the Academy also confirms that Miley Cyrus and Zac Efron will be joining them as well,though it is still unclear if Efron and Cyrus will be presenting together. But we’re crossing our fingers for a Cyrus-Christoph Waltz pairing.
The Academy’s reckoning upon these four young leaders of Hollywood’s new talent is dirested to entice younger (a.k.a. more) viewers to tune in to this year’s Oscars. Around 36 million total viewers watched last year’s telecast. The ratings were 13 percent higher than 2007’s all-time low, but peanuts compared to the 55 million who sank into their love beds to watch “Titanic” capture Best Picture in 1998.
Besides all these, Oscar producers are also taking to draw more eyes include bumping up the Best Picture category to include ten pictures, eliminating stage performances for Best Song nominees and cutting short acceptance speeches.
So..Will young Hollywood and the above tume ups to the 82nd Academy Awards suffice to attract viewers? Hopefully the Academy Awards wont look like some Kids’ Choice Awards, altough nobody is going to get
