“I didn’t do it! I didn’t do IT!!!” is what San Diego Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman is saying about his early morning encounter with reality star Tila Tequila in his first public statement since his Sunday arrest.
Cops were called to his house near San Diego and placed him under citizen’s arrest, courtesy of the victim, on suspicion of battery and false imprisonment. He has not been charged with anything to date.
Tequila told law enforcement officials that Merriman tried to choke her when she attempted to leave his house near San Diego, but he disagrees with that assessment. Bigtime.
“I think when it all surfaces, it will be a different situation. Period,” Merriman said. Better to avoid the exclamation point.

Merriman’s statement Sunday to FoxSports.com said that sheriff’s deputies “responded to a citizen’s complaint that was initiated by Tila Nguyen (aka Tila Tequila). I was taken into custody based upon that complaint. At the time, I was concerned about her welfare given the intoxicated state she appeared to be in and I encouraged her to stay until safe transportation could be provided.” Or what was really said: Bitch, you too damn drunk to drive!
“We would all do our best to help a friend if we considered their actions to be detrimental to their personal safety. I in no way caused any harm to Ms. Nguyen, however, paramedics were called and she was examined but no injuries were reported. She was released and has since returned to Los Angeles, California,” he said in the statement.
Paramedics don’t lie.
Ahhhh, but Ms Tequila sticks to her take and is tweeting about it, according to AmyGrindhouse.com.

- Tequila on her small height/ weight compared to her 6 foot 4 inch 272 pound mate: “I am only 93 pounds and 4?ft 11.”
- Tequila on basically being called a liar by the media and Merriman’s rep: “The truth will set you free… God is with me.”
