Yoko Ono Fighting to Prevent Release of Video Showing John Lennon Smoking Pot

Yoko

I don’t see what the big deal is. We all know John Lennon liked to indulge. His widow Yoko Ono would like you to think otherwise, I guess. She’s gone to court to prevent video of John smoking pot to surface.

The film was shot in 1970 and features three days in the life of John Lennon. The video shows John smoking pot, discussing putting hallucinogenic in Richard Nixon’s tea and talking about how it’s time to leave the Beatles.

So here’s what’s going down. Yoko’s first husband, American artist Tony Cox, shot the footage. He held onto the film for some time because he went into hiding for two decades after Yoko threatened to never let him see their daughter again. (Yoko has a daughter…who knew?) So anyway, Cox sold the videotapes to an art collector named John Fallon eight years ago. Fallon made the videos into a documentary but Yoko blocked it a year ago because she says those videos are hers.

So now we have to wait for the courts to decide.
