Wrestler “Killer” Kowalski Dead at 81

Wladek (Walter) “Killer” Kowalski in action

Legendary Wrestler Wladek “Killer” Kowalski has passed away at the age of 81. The Canadian started his career in the squared circle in 1947 under the name of Tarzan Kowalski. His career lasted for 26 years, during which time he participated in 6,000 matches.

He got the nickname “Killer” during a match in 1954. Kowalski was righting Yukon Eric and gave him a knee-slam that drove Eric to the mat. As a result, a chunk of Eric’s cauliflower ear came off, to the amazement and horror of everyone present. That was the moment when the legend was born.

Kowalski was a bad guy for the World Wrestling Federation in the 1960s, and in 1976 he teamed up with Big John Studd to win the WWF World Tag Team Championship. The pair were known as the Masked Executioners. In 1977, he left the ring to start his own wrestling school. Kowalski was responsible for training future wrestling stars Chyna and Triple H.

Rest in Peace, Killer.
