“Play it again, Sam” Casablanca
This quote was NOT in the movie; get your facts right.

That’s 76. 65 has 2 quotes in them!

3 Candy Addict { 04.29.08 at 5:41 pm }

You should have a separate list for comedies. I can think of a dozen funny lines from movies you didn’t mention.

4 Zooph { 04.29.08 at 6:13 pm }

I count 76.
You seem to have two listed under #65.

5 newgrl { 04.29.08 at 6:35 pm }

Several of these are actually famous misquotes, not quotes.

From Wikipedia:
“One of the lines most closely associated with the film—”Play it again, Sam”—is a misquotation. When Ilsa first enters the Café Americain, she spots Sam and asks him to “Play it once, Sam, for old times’ sake.” When he feigns ignorance, she responds, “Play it, Sam. Play ‘As Time Goes By.’ ” Later that night, alone with Sam, Rick says, “You played it for her and you can play it for me.” and “If she can stand it, I can! Play it!”"

It is the opening line of Woody Allen’s “Play It Again, Sam”, though.

7 Old Frank { 04.29.08 at 7:30 pm }

What about all the great lines from Young Frankenstein? “Put the candle back?” - “Some Ovaltine?” “What hump?” - “Here doctor?” come one.

8 BRAD { 04.29.08 at 7:44 pm }

76. White Heat: “Made it, Ma! Top of the world!”

9 Antlers { 04.29.08 at 7:59 pm }

5 never happend!

10 Hot Carl { 04.29.08 at 8:29 pm }

I’m not even a movie buff and I can tell you that #5, ‘Play it again, Sam,” is not a line from Casablanca.

11 ben { 04.29.08 at 8:37 pm }

“Play it again, Sam” is famously not a quote from Casablanca.

12 Ric { 04.29.08 at 8:40 pm }

You might want to check these for accuracy: 64, 60, 50, 24, 5

And what’s up with #65?

13 sarah going { 04.29.08 at 9:57 pm }

35 is wrong. bogart yes, but it isn’t casablanca. to have or have not?

14 Cyberloafer { 04.29.08 at 11:11 pm }

Number 5 should be “Play it, Sam”. So I suppose it should be out of the list of “most memorable quotes” - unless you are being ironic.

15 fred { 04.29.08 at 11:13 pm }

there are actually 76 quotes there

16 David { 04.30.08 at 12:28 am }

No 5. “Play it again, Sam” Casablanca is incorrect. It is never happened in the movie.

17 Joel { 04.30.08 at 12:44 am }

Uh…..no one in Casablanca ever says #5.

Ilsa says “Play it once, Sam. For old time sake” and Rick says “You played it for her and you can play it for me,” but the frequently misquoted line of “Play it again Sam” never appears in the film.

18 C Dresden { 04.30.08 at 1:00 am }

Brokeback Mountain comes in at 36th most famous quote of all time? I don’t think so.

19 Carson { 04.30.08 at 2:04 am }

“Play it Again Sam” is the name of a Woody Allen movie. The quote was “Play it.”

20 Possessor of Too Many Toes { 04.30.08 at 4:54 am }

Not to be an annoying picker of nits (though that’s exactly what I’m doing), but the number five line on this list doesn’t even exist - “Play it again, Sam” was never said in Casablanca.

None from Blade Runner?
“I want more life… Fucker”
“Time… to die”
“Wake up.. its time to die”
