Fashion Critic Mr. Blackwell Dies
Mr. Blackwell, who delighted us with his annual Worst Dressed List, has died in a Los Angeles hospital. The 86-year-old succumbed to complications from an intestinal infection on Sunday.
Blackwell, who was born Richard Sylvan Selzer, was given his nickname by Howard Hughes in the 1960s. He was one of the world’s top designers, which meant that he knew what he was talking about when he pointed out the fashion faux pas of the rich and famous.
Mr. Blackwell leaves behind a partner of almost 60 years, R.L. Spencer.
