Details Emerge Regarding Patrick Swayze’s Battle with Cancer

According to a report at MSNBC, Patrick Swayze learned he had pancreatic cancer five weeks ago and began a four week treatment cycle of chemotherapy. "He noticed that he had lost some weight and was looking a little jaundiced so he decided to go and get himself checked out," Galina Espinoza, senior editor at People said.

To cut off the blood supply to the tumor Patrick is taking the experimental drug, Vatalanib. He’s also indulging in a high fat diet to keep his weight up. (Unfortunately, I’m on the same diet.)

Patick’s brother Don hails him as an unflappable warrior and lashed out again reports that Patrick only has five weeks to live.

"He didn’t deserve that," Don said.

"There have been a lot of rumors swirling that Swayze had lost all of his hair, that he had gotten really gaunt. None of this, says his brother Don, is true," Espinoza said.

"He’s incredibly optimistic. He’s fighting this with everything that he’s got and through it all he has his wife, Lisa, by his side."
