Matt Damon is one of the most sought-after lead actors today. It’s well known he attended Harvard and is best friend to Ben Affleck. Here are a few things you might not be aware of.

1. Most Matt Damon fans know he lost quite a bit of weight to appear emaciated in his role as a heroin addict in "Courage Under Fire." Did you know he almost died? Yup. You can’t lose that much weight that fast an not have it wreak havoc on your body. In fact, Matt was so thin Tom Hanks almost passed over him for his role in "Saving Private Ryan."

2. Matt based his girlfriend in "Good Will Hunting" after his real life high school girl friend. Said former high school sweetheart eventually married Lars Ulrich from Metallica.

3. Matt announced his breakup with actress Minnie Driver on the Oprah Winfrey show. The problem is, he didn’t tell Minnie yet.
